Entertaiment means occupying the mind with agreeable occupation. The activity may range from solving a crossword puzzle to enjoying an elaborate dinner party. Entertainment satisfies the minds evolved reaction to deeply feel things like social backstabbing and murder. It is also a way to release seratonin and other chemicals to give us a positive feeling.
Entertainment is often inspired by real events and can be adapted to suit any scale – from a single person engaging in a sedentary pastime with a tablet computer to a group of people at a banquet. It can even involve activities that were once associated with war or hunting, such as archery and fencing, which have become spectator sports. The story of Scheherazade, for example, from the professional storytelling tradition, has been retold many times in different media including music (by composers such as Rimsky-Korsakov and Ravel), film, and innovative video games.
